  • New members receive a $100 per child/per class discount.
  • Until payment is received, or payment plans arranged, your child will not be “formally” registered for 2019-20 and cannot be assigned a classroom and teacher. All of your Am Shalom obligations must also be current, or once again, a payment plan arranged.
  • Remember that school registration is for Am Shalom members only.  Membership information and forms can be found here.

Please take note of the following grade-level considerations:

  • Our Pre-Kindergarten class is open to children who will be starting kindergarten in the fall of 2020. It meets once a month, and the registration fee is $180. This is open to members and non-members.
  • 2019-2020 THIRD Graders MUST sign up for Hebrew School for 2019-2020 or find a tutor to keep them on track with their preparation for becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Please reach out to Rabbi Phyllis Sommer if you have any questions or special circumstances.
  • 2019-2020 SECOND GRADERS are eligible to enroll in Hebrew School as well. This is an opportunity to get a jump-start on Hebrew learning for your 2nd grade student and a great time to take advantage of their enthusiasm for learning! We highly recommend you take advantage of this opportunity. Second Graders will be in mixed classes with Third Graders.
  • 2019-2020 Seventh Graders must enroll in our 7th grade program, in which 70% attendance throughout the school year is a necessity for becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah at Am Shalom. Please pay attention to the options below. You will be asked to rank your choices.

Modern Hebrew - Wednesdays 4:15-6:00pm
Students will enjoy learning Modern Hebrew and Israeli culture; in addition students will go through training to be helpers in our Hebrew School. This is a great option for students who plan to take Hebrew in high school.

Jewish Leadership - Wednesdays 4:15-6:00 pm
Through the lens of social-emotional learning, students will consider self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision making, relationship skills, and social awareness as they develop their leadership in our Jewish community.

Jewish Culture Study - Sundays 11:30am - 1:00pm
Students will learn about Judaism through the study of a variety of cultural interests such as cooking, arts, music, and drama. (This group will also have bagel brunch with the 8-10th graders on Sunday mornings)

Madrichol-in-Training - Sundays 9:15-11:30am
Madrichol are the helpers in our religious school classrooms. In the first third of the year, students will be trained on how to be effective helpers in a classroom setting; after which, each student will be placed in a classroom learning from our teaching staff and older Madrichol with ongoing check-ins and learning opportunities. Our 7th Grade Madrichol will have a required session that will take place before the Religious School Year begins. Our classes truly rely on their Madrichol of all ages, therefore we will take your child’s previous attendance record into account when selecting students for this group.

Jewish education doesn’t end at age 13! Our 8th, 9th, and 10th grade programs, taught by our Rabbis and our master teacher Buddy Schreiber, are incredibly engaging and address relevant teen issues. Each class also has a yearly trip. All current seventh graders are HIGHLY encouraged to sign up for our confirmation program. All students in these grades are encouraged to sign up, even if you didn't register or attend the previous year.

11th and 12th grade: This year, we will be offering our 11th & 12th graders an opportunity to continue their Jewish development through thoughtful conversations about the many topics that matter to them as well as further integration into their synagogue community.  We will be meeting once a month on Wednesday evenings. More information and registration HERE.

Thank you for your assistance with our school registration process. We look forward to receiving your registration materials soon.
