Koleinu,* formerly known as The Am Shalom Adult Choir, started shortly after Am Shalom’s formation in 1972. Over the years, the choir has sung at Shabbat and High Holy Days services. In addition, this group has had the pleasure of performing with many renowned Jewish composers/performers: Debbie Friedman, Bonia Shur, Craig Taubman, Julie Silver, Samuel Adler, Danny Maseng.
Currently, in addition to High Holy Day services, Koleinu is featured in an important initiative of Am Shalom, Jewish Music Heritage Series (JMHS), a series of three services throughout the year that seek to expose and explore the ever-evolving modes of worship and musical expression within the prayer experience. The video below is from that series, with Koleinu performing the music of Jonathan Comisar.
