These days, we are all connected to multiple communities. We might be connected through our neighborhoods, our schools, social and professional organizations, sports teams, etc. Obviously, our time and resources are limited.
So why join a synagogue, too?
Am Shalom is a sacred community that helps to support people in good times and bad ones. It is so comforting to know that our community can come together to help, to celebrate, to embrace.
Am Shalom provides a safe and beautiful place to explore your own beliefs, to discuss difficult theological questions, and to find spiritual uplift. However you seek God, however you seek Jewish enrichment in your life, we hope to help you find what you're looking for.
Am Shalom offers meaningful ways to celebrate important life-cycle events. From the joy of birth to the sadness of death, and everything between the two, we are here to be a part of these significant moments in your life. Jewish milestones are so often and fully celebrated as part of a community, and we offer that opportunity for you and your family.
Am Shalom is a place of learning for people of all ages. Enlightening and enriching learning opportunities are available for everyone, and we are proud of our unparalleled educational experiences in our Religious School, our Hebrew School, and our Adult Learning programs.
Am Shalom helps to focus your support of important causes and concerns, offering opportunities for engaging in dialogue with world events, helping with broader community needs, and serving the world through social justice, volunteering, community service and many other forms of tikkun olam, world repair, and tzedakah, charity.
Am Shalom has so many opportunities to enrich your spiritual, religious, cultural, and educational life. We offer a diversity of experiences to appeal to people of all ages and interests.
May the door of this synagogue be wide enough to receive all who hunger for love, all who are lonely for fellowship.
May it welcome all who have cares to unburden, thanks to express, hopes to nurture.
May the door of this synagogue be narrow enough to shut out pettiness and pride, envy and enmity.
May its threshold be no stumbling block to young or straying feet.
May it be too high to admit complacency, selfishness, and harshness.
May this synagogue be, for all who enter, the doorway to a richer and more meaningful life.
(composed by Sydney Greenberg and taken from our prayerbook, Mishkan Tefillah)
