Dana Poncher

Dana Poncher had recently left her position as Special Events Director at UIC when Am Shalom’s Director of Education Judi Berliner recruited her for a little substitute teaching. As a Torah Study regular, she was thrilled for the opportunity to share her love of learning. Dana fell in love with her students and ultimately became a teacher in both the Religious School and Hebrew School, as well as a B’nai Mitzvah tutor. Dana loves working with her students and considers Am Shalom her extended family.

In addition to teaching and tutoring, Dana supports the clergy and handles many facets of the B’nai Mitzvah program: communicating B’nai Mitzvah Torah Study dates; setting up required parent meetings and clergy check ins; assisting families with their scheduling needs, answering service questions and being a liaison for families as they take the B’nai Mitzvah journey.

Dana enjoys spending time with her family, hockey (go Blackhawks!), motorcycle rides and sunny autumn days.
