Alyssa Latala joined as Chief Experience Officer, part of Am Shalom's Executive Team, in July 2017. She previously served as Director of Communications. Before coming to Am Shalom, Alyssa was a program director for Big Tent Judaism, an independent, trans-denominational Jewish outreach organization. She's also worked for two non-profit consulting firms, a small family foundation and the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago.
Alyssa manages Am Shalom's various communication platforms, including the KOL (our printed newsletter), KOLbytes (our weekly email), the Am Shalom website and our social media pages. She serves as a first point of contact for prospective and new members, as they begin their Am Shalom journey, and facilitates some of Am Shalom's adult programming and volunteer opportunities.
When she's not at the temple, Alyssa's favorite role is mom to her boys, Ben and Sam. She loves musical theater, reading, cooking and long walks with her 105 lb lap dog, Marty.

Intro to Judaism is an engaging multi-session course for anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of Jewish life. Discover what could be meaningful to you in liberal Judaism. This course is designed for individuals and couples from various faith traditions and cultural backgrounds and those who have had no religious upbringing. It is perfect for interfaith couples, those raising Jewish children, spiritual seekers, individuals considering conversion, and Jews who want a meaningful adult Jewish learning experience. All people, perspectives, and questions are welcome. Our classes will be held at a rotation of all the participating North Shore synagogues: Congregation BJBE (Deerfield), Am Shalom (Glencoe), North Shore Congregation Israel (Glencoe), Temple Jeremiah (Northfield), and Sukkat Shalom (Wilmette). https://templejeremiah.shulcloud.com/form/intro-to-judaism---north-shore-consortium-2026.html -
