FIDF initiates and helps support educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs & facilities for the young men and women soldiers of Israel who defend the Jewish homeland. FIDF also supports the families of fallen soldiers. Three Am Shalom families joined resources to fund a four-year scholarship.  Funds were raised through bracelet, hat and notepad sales and a pizza party on the beach.  The families met the soldier during an Am Shalom trip to Israel and maintain regular contact with him.

The Israel Sport Center for the Disabled is one of the world pioneers in the field of sports rehabilitation. The Center opened its gates in 1960 and specializes in the physical and psychological rehabilitation of children and youth. For more than fifty years, their remarkable staff and volunteers have encouraged the disabled to participate in a variety of sports activities and to benefit from the countless ways in which sports is healing. Example: raising money for sports wheelchairs.

The Israel Sport Center for the Disabled's Bar Mitzvah dedication allows bar / bat
mitzvah youth to have a significant and personal experience of giving while at
the same time undertaking their new social responsibilities.  It allows
the bar / bat mitzvah youth to share their experience with disabled children of
the ISCD.
