Our slogan is “Don’t trash ‘em, SMASH ‘em!” as we call all Jack-o-lanterns to the Garden to become part of compost not landfill.  Bring your pumpkins to the Garden, smash 'em and compost them! Did you know that pumpkins are nutrient rich and 90% water ~ well, that makes them great for composting and bad for laying around in landfills.  Did you also know that more than 30 Illinois communities are committed to diverting literally tons of pumpkins from landfill on November 1st?  We are proud to be one of them.

We also are proud to be collaborating with the Village of Glencoe and LakeShore Recycling for our big event ~ we will have a huge dumpster on hand outside GCG’s South Gate beginning this weekend to compost all the pumpkins.
